Vintage Native American 4-Row Buffalo Bone Hairpipe Necklace with Heavy Solid Brass Beads | Professionally Refurbished & Restored

A striking vintage four-row hairpipe choker necklace constructed with elongated buffalo bone hairpipe beads, weighty solid brass beads, and genuine leather spacers. The piece has the highly collected, old-style appearance associated with traditional Plains regalia.

Hairpipe beads have a long history within Plains adornment and have been used in necklaces, chokers, breastplates, earrings, and ceremonial dress. Elaborate hairpipe pieces could signify prestige and continue to appear in contemporary powwow regalia. 

Four stiff genuine leather spacers anchor the rows, keeping the bone strands evenly separated and helping prevent them from twisting. Extended leather lace ties at the back allow the neckline to be adjusted for a closer or more relaxed fit.

The necklace was carefully taken apart so the bone could be moisturized and the solid brass beads individually polished, then professionally refurbished and restored while preserving the natural character of the original materials.
